Nepal Nature & Wildlife Tour Overview

The Nepal Nature & Wildlife Tour is a 9-day journey designed for travelers who want to experience the natural diversity of Nepal without committing to a long or physically demanding trek. The itinerary combines Himalayan viewpoints, peaceful mountain towns, lakes, waterfalls, forests, wildlife and cultural experiences across three very different destinations: Nagarkot, Pokhara and Chitwan.

Your journey begins in Kathmandu, but instead of spending your first night in the busy capital, you will travel directly to Nagarkot, a peaceful hill station known for its Himalayan views, countryside atmosphere and beautiful sunrises. After settling into your hotel, you can relax in the fresh mountain environment and enjoy the sunset and surrounding scenery, weather permitting.

The following morning begins with a short nature walk toward Nagarkot Hill Tower, where you can watch the sunrise over the Himalayan landscape. After breakfast, the journey continues toward Pokhara, with the option of taking a domestic flight if you prefer to save travel time. Pokhara provides a completely different natural setting, with tranquil lakes, green hills, waterfalls, caves and spectacular mountain views.

During your stay in Pokhara, you will visit Sarangkot for an early-morning sunrise experience before exploring some of the city's most important natural attractions. The itinerary includes Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave and Seti River Gorge, followed by a relaxing boat ride on Phewa Lake. You will also have the opportunity to hike to the World Peace Pagoda, or travel there by private vehicle if you prefer a more comfortable experience.

Pokhara also gives you time to enjoy Nepal's soft-adventure side. Depending on your interests, you can use your free time for activities such as paragliding, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning, mountain flights or an ultralight flight. These activities are optional, allowing you to make the trip as relaxing or adventurous as you wish.

The final major part of the journey takes you from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park, where the Himalayan scenery gives way to the forests, grasslands and wetlands of Nepal's southern lowlands. Chitwan adds a completely different dimension to your Nepal experience, with opportunities for wildlife viewing, jungle exploration, birdwatching and nature activities.

Your Chitwan experience includes a full-day jungle safari, where you may encounter one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, sambar deer, wild boar, gaur, crocodiles, monkeys and numerous bird species. With patience and a little luck, you may also have the opportunity to see a Royal Bengal tiger in its natural habitat, although wildlife sightings are unpredictable and cannot be guaranteed.

The following day focuses more closely on Chitwan's ecosystem through early-morning birdwatching, a guided nature walk, canoeing and conservation experiences. You can also learn about the culture and traditions of the local Tharu community, giving you a deeper understanding of the people who live alongside this unique environment.

After completing your Chitwan experience, you will return to Kathmandu by private vehicle, with a flight option available if preferred. The tour concludes with a farewell dinner in Kathmandu before your departure the following day.

Overall, this 9-day Nepal Nature & Wildlife Tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience several sides of Nepal in a single trip. Rather than focusing only on cultural sightseeing or trekking, the itinerary brings together Himalayan scenery, sunrise experiences, lakes, waterfalls, caves, forests, wildlife safaris, birdwatching, jungle activities and local culture. It is particularly suitable for couples, families, nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and travelers looking for a comfortable introduction to Nepal's diverse landscapes.

Wake up early today for a peaceful birdwatching experience in the natural surroundings of Chitwan. The early morning is an excellent time to observe birds as the jungle becomes active with different calls and movements.

With a knowledgeable local naturalist or guide, explore the surrounding forests, grasslands and wetlands while looking for different bird species. Chitwan is an important destination for bird lovers, with numerous resident and migratory birds found across its diverse habitats.

After birdwatching, enjoy a guided nature walk. Walking through the natural environment gives you a different perspective compared with a jeep safari. Your guide will explain the plants, trees, animal tracks, birds and other signs of wildlife that you may encounter along the way.

After breakfast, continue with another nature or wildlife activity depending on the available schedule and your interests. You may choose from experiences such as a canoe ride, gharial and crocodile conservation experience, or another guided jungle activity.

You can also learn more about gharial conservation and the efforts made to protect these endangered reptiles and their natural habitat.

For those interested in local culture, a Tharu cultural experience can also be arranged. This provides an opportunity to learn about the traditions, lifestyle and heritage of one of the indigenous communities living in the Chitwan region.

Winter (December to February) is also a good option, especially for travelers who prefer cooler weather and quieter destinations. Mornings can be cold, particularly in Nagarkot and Sarangkot, so warm clothing is recommended.

Monsoon (June to August) brings rain and cloudy conditions, which can affect mountain visibility and road travel. However, the landscapes become exceptionally green, and Chitwan remains an interesting destination for nature lovers.
